Dr. Kate Turner, PsyD
Psychologist Resident
My Approach
I see my patients as resourceful, resilient, and capable of change. Taking the leap and choosing to attend therapy is a testament to that. After all, as humans, we are wired for connection. We thrive when we allow ourselves to connect with and lean on others, and my goal is to provide that collaborative, supportive anchor for you in this season of your journey.
I am trained in generalist psychology approaches, with specific interest in the intersection of chronic health concerns and mental health. After working in integrated primary care for my internship year, I strengthened my knowledge in the profound mind/body connection. Through this, I gained interest in working with those experiencing chronic illness, chronic pain, and other intersecting mental and physical health concerns, including providing support to caregivers. As every individual is unique, I tailor treatment to each person’s needs and goals. I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based practices, while integrating from additional modalities as appropriate.
My Experience
My diverse clinical training has given me the opportunity to work with clients across a wide range of cultural backgrounds, identities, and life experiences, which has strengthened my appreciation for the ways these factors shape our mental health and well-being. My experience has included a variety of clinical settings, including community mental health, inpatient, primary care, and outpatient settings, where I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults across a broad range of presenting concerns. I currently provide individual therapy to adults and value the opportunity to support each client in navigating their unique challenges, strengths, and goals. I strive to create a therapeutic space that is inclusive, affirming, and responsive to each person’s unique experiences, and it is important to me that clients feel seen, understood, and supported in the therapy process.Specialties
