Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)
Short-term approach with specific goals in mind, focusing on finding practical solutions rather than dwelling on problems.
Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) is a short-term, goal-directed approach that emphasizes finding practical solutions rather than dwelling on problems. We collaborate with you to imagine the future you want and identify steps to get there. Instead of analyzing past issues, the focus is on your strengths and what is already working. For example, you might answer questions like “What will be different when this issue is solved?” or recall times you’ve overcome challenges.
Strengths-based
We highlight your existing skills and past successes. You’ll explore “exceptions” when the problem didn’t occur, helping you see resources you can use now.
Goal Setting
You and your therapist set clear, attainable goals (often small steps). Progress is measured by how close you move toward the desired outcome, often using scales or specific tasks.
Who It Helps
Because it’s collaborative and positive, many people with anxiety, depression, relationship or parenting conflicts, or adjustment challenges benefit. It’s especially useful if you want a brief, empowering therapy that builds hope.
